Frequently asked questions

The detail behind the daily case file — trial, billing, devices, selection, and how we treat the material.

Trial & billing

How does the free trial work?

You get 7 days of full access to the daily case and the entire archive. We tell you the exact renewal amount and date up front, and you can cancel any time before the trial ends to avoid being charged.

Will I be charged automatically?

Yes. After the 7-day trial your membership renews automatically at the stated monthly or annual price until you cancel. The renewal terms are shown before you start and on your billing page.

What if I don't like it?

Cancel before your trial ends and you pay nothing. If you're charged for your first paid period and change your mind, we offer a 7-day money-back path — just email [email protected].

Is my payment information secure?

Payments are processed over an encrypted connection. Until our subscription setup is fully connected, checkout shows a neutral status message rather than collecting card details, and we never name a payment processor we haven't integrated.

Watching & devices

What devices can I watch on?

Watchcast runs in any modern web browser on desktop, tablet, and phone. We don't currently offer native mobile, smart-TV, or offline-download apps, and we won't claim ones we haven't built.

Can I download cases to watch offline?

Not at this time. Watchcast is web-based streaming only. If we ever add downloads we'll say so explicitly rather than imply support we don't have.

Can I share my account?

A membership is intended for personal use by one household. Sharing credentials widely may lead us to limit access; please see the Terms for details.

The daily ranking

How are the cases selected?

Our curation team reviews documentary cases for sourcing, fairness, and craft, then ranks thirty of them every midnight. The featured file is the day's #1; it is a human editorial choice, not an automated feed.

When does the ranking refresh?

Every day at 00:00 in your own local timezone. The on-page countdown is based on your device clock — there are no fake or resetting urgency timers.

Does the same case stay #1 forever?

No. The ranking is rebuilt every midnight, so today's #1 rotates out and a new featured file takes its place. The archive keeps the previous cases available to members.

Can I submit my own documentary case?

Yes — filmmakers can reach the case room at [email protected]. We review submissions for sourcing and rights clearance before considering them for the ranking.
